Patreon Transparency Report 2025

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As many of you probably know, the past year has brought significant upheaval in the Patreon community. It all started in early 2024 with a massive wave of bans on Gumroad, followed by Patreon less than two weeks later. The reason? A payment service provider forced both platforms to take drastic action against any sexual content—otherwise, it would have terminated their partnership. Neither platform could afford that risk, so they complied.

To protect my account and continue providing you with content, I carefully revised my posts to align with Patreon’s guidelines. At the same time, I sought alternatives to share my work, which led to the creation of my SubscribeStar Adult section, as well as expanding my use of Discord and MEGA.

Some supporters criticized these measures, accusing me of lacking risk tolerance. However, my top priority has always been the safety of my account—my sole source of income. A vast majority of you understood and accepted this, and for that, I sincerely thank you!

Why am I bringing this up again now?

Yesterday, every creator on Patreon received an email containing the "Patreon Transparency Report 2025." I’ve linked the report here. It reveals how violations were reported, reviewed, and sanctioned. Some key takeaways:

The new rules, in effect since December 2024, define any sexual act—whether involving real people, CGI figures, or AI-generated models—as pornography and prohibit it. You can find the latest guidelines here.

So, what do you guys and gals think about it?

Yours,
Jim

It would be unwise not to inform the community about a switch. However, I have no plans to leave—I’m simply keeping you informed about the report. I won’t leave Patreon on my own unless they ban me, which I certainly hope won’t happen.

Nah, there are different ways hot to interpret that report. I've send you a message on Discord, Sitri.

As long as artists announce that they are moving and where they're moving to, I think it's fine. There are always organizations out there that feel we should be "pure" and shouldn't consume this kind of content, so really there's nothing new here.

Do artist actually need to be worried more after this report published?
