Just wanted to share this for anyone who isn't aware yet. For all Apple users, you end up paying Apple's fee simply for signing up using their app. Patreon themselves came out with a statement, saying they don't agree with this change, but apple kinda forced them to do this to keep their app on their store.
Tldr : reasons to USE WEB BROWSER to sign up for memberships :
You get charged a 30% extra fee that goes directly to Apple, not to the creator.
They put a 75 day hold on any earnings to the creator, so neither party benefits
Prices are adjusted to cover offset fees on purchases made on the app for most creators, including mine, as most creators can't afford to cover the fees themselves. This doesn't apply if you just sign up on your web browser.
So basically, there's no real benefit for you signing up on the app, except for possible convenience i guess if you have your card information ready to go. It doesn't help you (since prices are higher) and doesn't help the creator either.
Thank you,
Sean
