I need to talk about color

Hello everyone!

I have something I need to get off my chest. I don't have a lot of time in my week. But when I do, I'm working on my comics. Always. And I think I'm pretty fast, especially when I'm motivated. One thing that motivates me is moving from one project to the next one. The problem that I have, is that when I do full colors on a comic... It adds time to the project. A LOT OF TIME. I want to be perfectly honest with you... I didn't feel like continuing Riley. Because of the enormous amount of time needed to color the book. I don't know that I have that in me right now. Unless this gig became a full time thing, that would be a different. I'm a one man operation.

The panel at the top is from the next Riley update. It was lightning fast to do. I LOVED IT. I'm feeling I'm back on the book. I think this is what I'm going to do for now. It goes fast, I go to the next thing quickly... It just makes more sense to me and keeps me engaged.

But I won't stop coloring everything. For now this is what I'm going to do.

I really want to go this direction. I think it makes more sense to me. I want to do more books! I hove more Mighty Honey stories, Brandy, Marie stories... things you don't even know I'm working concepts on!!!

So as you can see, I'm not abandoning colors. Just for the sequential. My sanity needs it.

Hope it's cool with you. I'm trying to be as honest as I can. I want to give you more content. But I don't have more time for now.

Cheers,

-JohnN

No color is fine, it gives us more content.

I understand the reasoning but I personally love the level of detail that comes out with the full colour comics such as Marie and while you were sleeping. Not trying to offend just being honest.

I love the single tone comics, they are plenty hot without full color! I’d for sure prioritize getting your vision out over superfluous colors

Jkiney

Black and white with shades is perfectly fine for me. more comics>colour

Shiny Teeth

Don't burn yourself out. It's good to set boundaries. It's the best thing you can do for your creativity AND productivity long term.

I like Black and white but your colors are amazing. You need to do what makes you happy and feels good, I will love the B&W comics and I will love the full color pin ups 👍

Also I think the b&w are drawn better and maybe more detailed as in the above pic.

I like the black & whites. I rather have more work. Thanks for letting us know. You're doing a good job.

I think it's alright. Personally I've always enjoyed your B&W w/ shade as seen in "The Roomate", "Space Trexxie" and "Ella" more then your Fullcolor. That's not to say I think your coloring is bad (Marie #1 is my favorite comic of yours) but if this direction leads to more of your work being put out then I'm all for it.
