Mid-Video Update - One of the Editions of All Time Edition

Hewwo awll, and wewcome to da Patewon update! (* ^ ω ^)

Okay okay I can't do an entire post like that, anyways. This one is a little more on-time than the last because I am finally through whatever sicknesses I've got over the last month or two, and I'm going strong! I'm almost finished with my current side-job, I'm almost done collecting all my documents for obtaining residency here in Brazil, and video progress has been going super smooth this time around.

Besides that, the only other thing to report on that I don't think I've mentioned here yet, is that I will be back in the US for a couple of days for a convention! If you'd like to come see me in person, maybe buy a PC-98 or something, and check out some old computers, then stop on by Cleveland Gaming Classic from September 20th to 22nd, where I'll be aiding a close friend of mine in running a booth, alongside my boyfriend and other close friends. I may also be in cosplay.

Anywho, yes, monthly schedule!

August: Harumade Kururu. I was initially intending to cover CARNIVAL for this month, but HaruKuru ended up being the easier pick while I'm still rather busy with a bajillion things. I'm hoping all the stuff I'm busy with will get wrapped up by early August, so if CARNIVAL ends up being as intense to create as I think it'll be... uh, at least it should be fine? Game is finished, script is half-finished.

September: CARNIVAL. Yes, we are FINALLY getting back to the really weird shit on the channel. It's perhaps the most infamous Setoguchi Ren'ya game, it's got a tie-in novel that reframes a massive amount of the infamously bad content, and it deals with a lot of heavy subjects with a variety of delicacy due to production woes. We're so back...?

October: Kizuato. It's the spooky month, I ought to cover a spooky game, and I ought to cover the title that lost to SeaBed in second place. Maybe I'll do Shiniyuku 2 the next month after, too, but for now, I've been teasing this damn game for way too long. Sorry about that.

THE LIST: HONGY. As always, feel free to suggest more for it! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WF_2ADCa5UY63yygiElEyGr35UPCf-jfGivuHAeaiqs/edit?gid=0#

And that's it for now! As always, thank you all so much for continuing to support my work here! If you'd like to ask any questions for the Q&A segment of the next video, or suggest any games, leave a comment on this post or shoot me a message here. Bye bye for now! o/

If you're still covering games, I suggest doing a piece on SIGNALIS in the future. It's already a fairly talked about Survival Horror/Yuri experience, but hearing your own interpretations from it would be appreciated! I also do not see MinDead Blood on the list, it's another game from the BlackCyc golden age. After (hopefully) you eventually review Dead End Aegis (Gaiden and Fandisc are a must read as well) from Metalogiq, Minagoroshi no Otome is their new upcoming title which looks promising, so lookout on that as well. More about it when it gets released..

SilentNyle

I recently had your Bishoujo Mangekyo video suggested to me by a friend, and spent the last week or so absolutely enraptured by your videos! So much so that I'm planning to grab an emulator and play a couple that you've talked about. Thank you for the amazing videos!

Salty Bard

just read through sweet pool this past weekend (about 8 hrs total, although I read stupid fast) and would be interested in seeing your take on it! it gave me a lot to chew on that I've been thinking about for like three days straight

Vita

I'd love to hear your take on We Know the Devil! It's a really short experience however, like sub 2 hours so I don't know how good it'd be for a video. It stuck with me ever since I first played it as a teen and It's ending cgs are burned into my brain.. I need to replay it myself to see if it's still as nice as I remember.

niceday2you

reccomending Sorcery Jokers for the list!! excited for upcoming videos

Oh! Another question! Is it possible to send you fan-art? And if so on what platform?

Would you ever consider looking into the Diabolik lovers VN? It fits in with other topics you’ve covered with its sado -masocism. It’s not very deep, and It has a bad rep bc of the kinda butchered anime but I think it’s pretty interesting from a history and media perspective. Also vampires I just rly like vampires

I recommend Yu-No due to its themes of alternate dimensions and science fiction blending with fantasy.

I'm reccing Maggot Baits for a future VN. It's another hardcore eroguro VN with really good writing, fantastic characters and a super thematically dense story. There's so much involved that I'm shocked at how much can fit into the story and how well it interweaves with the characters. Off the top of my head, there's the effect of Christianity on the world, women who oppress other women to escape their own oppression, the protagonist's relationship with violence, what motivates people once they have lost all their ideals, and the power of love. I love all the characters in the story, which is rare for me, and the beautiful designs by Hamashima Shigeo really bring a special spark of personality to everyone. It's also kinda funny in that it's a bizarro version of Fate/Zero from the alternate universe where it was also an eroge. I'm still thinking about this game a year after playing it, and having created fanart and a fan plushie. Also Sandy is the perfect woman, and my favorite character in anything ever.

You know... now that you are almost a proper Brazilian resident, CARNIVAL is on Feb/March, maybe you could save that for the actual Carnival month and have a giggle with it? ^^ ( if that doesn't feel like throwing a wrench in your proverbial engines )

Jessica Luchesi

One praise I can give is that the addict character is portrayed sympathetically, as the characters understand she needs help. Once the lead and his coworker realize her Manic Pixie Dream Girl behavior is drug-induced, they grow very concerned and try to persuade her to seek professional help, while understanding that it won’t be easy for her and she needs support.

For a possible future VN, I’d like to rec Yume Miru Kusuri. It was one of my first VNs, and it’s still got a special place in my heart. That said, the routes are pretty heavy - one love interest is severely bullied to the point of ideation, one is taking drugs as a means to escape her seeming-deadend life, and the last one relies on a lot of impulsive and unhealthy decisions to cope with depression. Content warnings for bullying, drug use, suicidal ideations and themes, and SA.
