A (good) update to donor-exclusive videos

Hello everyone!

I'm making this post public as I feel it may impact some peoples decision to stay as a free member or begin donating.

TL;DR -- videos are hosted on Dropbox from now on, MEGA will be canned, past videos will be updated, and there will be no more bandwidth errors. Please view the download link on any video for a link to the repository. All videos that were on MEGA have been added as of 04/17/2024.

long -- Since I began uploading uncut versions of these videos to Patreon, I've used MEGA as a backup hosting service for those who wish to direct download, as well as to see versions of some videos that have content some might find hard to stomach visually. This is because, for a long while, I assumed MEGA was one of the only distributors that would allow the kinds of videos I do. Despite all being critiques and not gratifying, I've heard enough horror stories about Google Drive and even had my alt YT acc wiped without notice for private videos that I went for what I had known to be safe.

Unfortunately, MEGA seems like it was a very poor choice on my end. Yesterday, I got two reports of people being unable to watch the newest video due to a bandwidth error, and I had received two other reports in the past. I was uncertain what was happening as I thought MEGA's limit was 5GB a day - more than generous - but I was very wrong. The limit can go as low as under 1GB a day, which is unsuitable for video watching.

I'm incredibly sorry to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this. I know it's frustrating to pay for content and be unable to watch it, and I'm really really sorry I didn't understand how much of an issue this had been until now. I assumed wrong and didn't double check, and I didn't do enough research into alternatives before sticking with MEGA.

From now on, videos will be hosted on Dropbox. To my understanding, they will not take down content unless there is a legal concern, and there isn't any with my work. So, from now on, Dropbox will be the platform of choice, as it offers end users (all y'all) no data limits, so you should be able to DL and watch to your hearts content.

Again, I'm very sorry for this entire ordeal and for how long it's been going on. If you have previously been unable to watch any video, please check their posts for updated links to the Dropbox repository containing the available back catalog. Everything that was on MEGA has been transferred over there.

Finally, a reminder that if you are unable to access posts, please verify that your payment went through and that you are subscribed to a tier. I've seen a number of people list 'unable to access content' on their Exit Surveys, and it's very sad to see. My email listed on my YT is always open if there are ever any issues with Patreon that cannot be resolved via DM.

Thank you for your continued support, and I'm again really sorry for any trouble this has caused.

Thank you for reminding me! Another user noticed that and a second video missing. Thankfully I have the source for the WA2 video around, though the other (I think one of the Yami no Koe) might be on my computer back in the US. If so I'll grab it in a month or so.

I do hate to be a bother, but it appears that the White Album 2 video is currently missing from dropbox? I mean, I guess I'll just have to go rewatch the hours of other EXCELLENT videos you've made instead. An oh so terrible fate, I assure you. ;) But I would very much appreciate if it could be found and returned to its proper location?

Chris Holmes

It's either that or Final Cut using really inefficient settings for encoding the video. I don't remember it having much clear customization unlike say Handbrake/FFmpeg. Nowadays I export my videos as ProRes from Premiere and re-encode in Handbrake as RF19 H264 MP4.

Noelle Aman

likely the container spec for MOV doesn't store H264 data streams well.

> as videos before that were encoded in very space consuming H264 MOV files. I will be converting those to smaller H264 MP4 files ASAP. Do you know why the MOV files were so much bigger, if both used the same codec?

Lil heads up in the dropbox version you forgot to uncensor the CG at 1:26:04 when talking about Yume and Agaki (I'm sorry I'm bad at spelling) finding a sense of normalcy together. It's shown earlier so it's not a big deal but thought I'd mention. Amazing video as always, thanks for continuing your great work

Will

Thank you so much! Can't believe how quickly you responded to this!

Yoot

Thank you so much for addressing this! I was having trouble watching the uncensored videos through MEGA, and I appreciate the quick response 💖

Max

AH YAY!!! Mega didn't let me download the newest video either so I'd just accepted I'd watch the censored for that one but I'll gladly rewatch uncensored! Thank you for the care!!

I told my father the story of Sayo Oshi and its true ending mostly because he's not only a medical doctor, but he also seems to understand human psychology.

I'm paying $20/mo and checked the terms, it does not appear there's any possibility of me getting blocked for bandwidth. If it happens, I'll investigate again though. Thanks for the warning!

Noelle Aman

I'm not sure if this has changed in the past few years or if you get more bandwidth if you have a paid Dropbox account, but I remember getting my public Dropbox links temporarily blocked for high bandwidth use in the past. So you should maybe investigate whether that's still the case before switching.

You're wonderful, as always! Also, I really appreciate that you do two levels of visual content censoring. I usually find myself wanting extreme violence still visually obscured while I listen. But I'm glad that all three experiences are available depending on the viewer's preference. I was just telling a friend how your Extravaganza video was just the most recent example of you covering content which I never would have experienced first hand, but am glad to have heard you describe.
