Loved knowing you were here in Brazil... hopefully we can catch each other somewhere somehow... :) Brazil is so OUTSIDE the international norm, it is surprising... but a welcoming surprise. I do hope my so fucked up country and so dangerous for us trans women country ( one of the most dangerous for us... as I joked with family when traveling to Japan... I would be worried for going for a somewhat transphobic country for a month alone... if I wasn't leaving one of the most transphobic ones in the world.... ) proves to be a good travel. The discussion on "purity" reminds me a lot of Perfect Blue - in fact, how that film discusses purity is something I've wanted to write properly about for a while. I've written some ramblings about it on my tumblr here and there. I wouldn't be surprised if you've seen it already, it's hardly an obscure film, but the way it talks about how purity is seen as a virtue and deviation from that sinful and disgusting, how this view detracts from expression of the true self, how in spite of purity being seen as virtuous people *revel* in the thought of being the one to take it away - it culminates in what is easily my favourite film. IDK, I know that's largely tangential, but your video reminded me of it.
