The Creepypasta Visual Novel That Time Forgot

Patrons can view this video uncut!

Long before DDLC and other meta-horror VNs, there was a little game in 2004 that explored the harms of fiction, how roles are forced onto us, generational trauma and more, all with some haunting creepypasta vibes...

...that game, is Suisenka.

Do you ever plan on covering any of the System Sacom Novelware titles such as Dome, Chatty, Soft de Hard na Monogatari, and 38-man Kilo no Kokuu? I feel like the Novelware line is an important stepping stone in the history of visual novels that nobody really talks about. PS: 38-man Kilo no Kokuu apparently was the first Japanese computer game to support MIDI - specifically it supports the Roland MT-32, and it's some pretty neat music.

just subscribed to your patreon because of this vid. I love learning about the subversive stories in video games unknown to the english speaking sphere! I hope you don't mind me recommending the Caligula Effect 2 if you want one with a similar theme to this one, namely that fiction is only a guide, but never a replacement. It's a jrpg where people are upset with their life in some way and want to redo it, and end up being trapped in a utopia where their wish becomes true. the majority of the game comes from coming to terms with returning to that harsh reality. What i like of it is that the conclusion to the the character stories never solves the problem. they're only given hope to confront it once more. It might be a point in this essay that reminded me of the game: Nothing can instantly cure your problems, and you may be forever scarred. But the courage to keep living anyway is everything. I hope you might want to check this underrated gem out!
