Mid-video update - IT'S THE HOLIDAYS!!! Edition

Hello everyone, and happy holidays!

This update is once again coming later than I intended it to because I've been working hard on getting this video completed - as well as just spacing out on writing this - but nevertheless, it is here, and I got some cool stuff to mention that'll be brought up in the upcoming video! The big one I'll mention here is that I have an actual proper camera now, so my footage should look WAY BETTER than it did in the last video. There's so much more detail, it's incredible!

And of course, I again want to thank everyone who donates here and elsewhere for making all of this possible! We are now almost at $1,800/mo, $1,350/mo after taxes, so it's safe to say we have completely smashed the goal I set of $1,500/mo with only prospects of looking up. Woohoo! <3

Okay! Game updates!

January: Teninai got pushed back because I didn't want to destroy myself emotionally with it and WA2 in a row, so we've got Suisenka instead as evidenced by the script preview being posted. Editing is almost finished; it needs censorship and the Patreon segment, as well as a thorough watch through, but it's pretty damn close and should be up for y'all tomorrow.

February: Same plan as before. I intend to get White Album 2 finished for this month, but failing that, I'll be covering something else. Maybe Atlach-Nacha, maybe a manga like Asumi-chan.

March: It's either WA2 or one of the things I intended to cover for February. I'm not really sure!

THE LIST: IT HUNGERS. Gimme games to cover! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WF_2ADCa5UY63yygiElEyGr35UPCf-jfGivuHAeaiqs/edit#gid=0

And that's all I got for now! But as always, I wanna hear from you and feature your questions in the video! I'll be taking them from this thread for the next three hours for the Patreon cut of this video, and the deadline for the public cut of the video is December 26th... except I'm filled on questions now, and I can't strike through text, but thank you all so much for being so inquisitive! Also, I promise I'll be better about posting these when I'm NOT almost finished with production in the future so there's more time, I am so sorry. (*μ_μ)

See you all again soon!

Comments

I'll answer this in the March video Q&A section publicly (I just finished recording the Patreon bit, missed this, and already put my mic away...), but I have and I am interested in checking it out!

Hello, just joined and I love your videos! Have you played saya no uta?

Dree

bit of a weird question but have you heard of black souls

poppin up

I'll talk more about this in the next Pateron segment - but I'm not so confident in my translating skills that I could do that. Fun idea though!

Noelle Aman

probably too late, but here's my question. have you considered doing a live translation of a visual novel that doesn't have an english translation? like you play through the visual novel and translate it for us as you play it. that could be really fun.

robert whitaker

For the list, I was wondering if you'd ever consider covering something like Maggot Baits by ClockUp or Sadistic Blood by Black Cyc?

AMG

happy holidays! id be interested to see you cover "Hitori Korosu no mo Futari Korosu no mo Onaji Koto da to Omou kara", that mouthful of a title. its a free doujin VN and i'm fascinated by what i've read about it, though i can't read japanese (...yet) so i can't check it out for myself.

What are your thoughts on machine translations? It used to be the purview of amateur fans. However, now it seems some titles are releasing with English machine translations as the official translations (especially VNs released by SakuraGame). I also just saw an article on ANN that machine translation will be used to assist in the simulpub of The Ancient Magus' Bride manga.

Happy Holidays!!! hope you have a good rest of the year and a good beginning of the year!!! Any game rec would be one I picked up recently being The Shell- part 1 and 2/ Kara No Shoujo. It's a horror mystery with some eroge scenes set in Showa era Japan. Started playing it, but it has a view into the cycle of violence in the game. As well as, maybe you've answered a question like this before, but "Do you produce any music outside of the games? as well as what got you into producing music?

Bea

I’m excited to see any and all videos you put out, your work has been a fascinating look into the world of r18 vns. I know you don’t usually look at otome titles but, have you ever heard of the game Sanzen Sekai Yuugi? I’ve been curious about it ever since I had a good look at the protagonist

Chlob

Happy holidays! Seeing that you plan to cover Slow Damage brings me so much joy, I am excited to hear your impressions!

startleberry

Could you talk about Isaku at some point? You’ve mentioned it before, and I’m really curious. Also, I think Sei Shoujo’s works would be interesting, if you can deal with stuff like Starless being a 50+ hour nukige. Their work deals with some dark themes, and a route from both Starless *and* Bible Black have lived rent-free in my head for many years.

Hourai

Also for a rec: Chou no Daku, Hana no Kusari feels like an interesting one since its an eroge/otome game released in the states in its non-R18 version, and it feels like if you wanted to approach it either in its original format or in its new release like you did for Gore Screaming Show it could be interesting! I'm planning on buying the switch version sometime soon and seeing how it feels without the R18 content.

Rand

It's not PC-98, but I'm curious what you think about Radical Dreamers on the Satellaview. It recently got an official translation, and I'm more familiar with the fan translation from years ago, but it'd be interesting to hear the perspective of someone who can actually read the original Japanese!

livvy94

Thought so! Glad I checked lol. Happy holidays!

Yurigasaki

I'm gonna answer this here since it's easier; I prefer comments since I like to vet what games get added, and I also don't want people to add tons and tons of stuff to it and make it impossible to sift through. So feel free to suggest whatever you want in comments!

Noelle Aman

for questions, i was wondering if you've ever heard of inga ouhou: murderous plaza? a friend of mine told me about it, idk if it's out yet but it has explicitly canon lgbt characters and the studio (MORPATH) is staffed entirely by lgbt people! i also mentioned this a little while ago but i was also wondering if you would ever consider covering the date a live series, but it has quite a bit of content so i don't know when or if you would be up for that. for suggestions there was this one vn that i swear was related to steins;gate or chaos;head and the only thing i remember about it was that there was a girl with really huge boobs and it got an anime. i know that's a vague description but i feel like the people here are the likeliest to know what im talking about lol. i've been curious about it for a long time

Happy Holidays!! Thank you for your hard work this past year and wishing you luck in the coming new year! Sorry, typing on phone so not letting me space out? My question is: how do you generally feel about adaptations/tie-in games for visual novels? Thinking the Nitroplus and Leaf tie-in fighting games, OAV/OVAs of franchises, even full anime like Clannad and Steins;Gate? (I remember realizing the Rance series exists years ago with coming across a gif from to OAV and being blown away that it was part of a franchise ahaha.)

Rand

Happy holidays and thanks for your hard work! Take care!

Hubertfireemblem

Potentially silly question but are we OK to just add stuff to the spreadsheet list or do you prefer to get recs in the comments?

Yurigasaki

Ok so this question is related to Suisenka. Speaking of well-developed main characters like Kouichi, who's an eroge MC on the opposite end of the spectrum that you can't stand? Bonus points if they're adored by everyone else but you.

Habibi

I just about finished reading SNOW and it really cute. I think you’ll like it too! I also hope you cover Suki Suki Daisuki one day. Happy holidays! Hope you find time to relax and have some fun with people you love.
