The Giant's Prisoner! Final Hi-Res Painting

In the Process Guide you will notice that the image changed a bit from the initial concept.
Originally, the figure in the cage had been a guy, and his angry girlfriend was the adventurer with the axe. But I just couldn't get that figure to work as a girl, so I ended up giving that figure a mask and making the prisoner a girl. I think it reads more clearly now and the viewer will get what's happening a lot faster, even though it leans a bit into some of the older cliches of the genre. I think it is better this way... but I will always be wondering about wether I could have pulled off the original composition...
Anyway, it was a lot of fun to draw and paint! Here is a process guide to describe the Photoshop stages:

Hi Karien! Absolutely! I plan to do a more in-depth take on layer modes for a few tutorials in the future. Also, one of my first posts on here (the one with the little red riding hood archer) offers a basic overview of the different layer modes I use. The brushes I used here are from the Mummy Minotaur brush set from last year. I am also streaming a digital painting today and will be talking about how I use the brushes live at 10AM EST today.
