Bonus Content!

Hey guys! I've got a drawing to share with you today!

We are just $5 a month away from achieving the Bonus Content goal! (...And as I mentioned earlier, I hope I'm not jinxing myself by already starting on content for the month.)

For this month I will be sharing a bonus image of an Uruk-Hai warrior painted traditionally in Acryla-Gouache! The attached drawing is the traditional graphite drawing for it. The tools used were Strathmore Smooth Bristol (2 ply) and Kimberly 2H pencils with 0.5mm 2H and HB Mechanical pencils.

I have not decided what the monthly bonus content will be once we hit the new goal, and I will probably put up a poll to get a better sense for what you guys would be most interested in. Right now I am leaning towards either a traditionally painted figure or vignette scene, or doing a deck of cards with 1 new face card each month. But I am getting ahead of myself... For now, please enjoy the new drawing! I will share the traditional painting with you guys later this month!

Hey Natalie! Actually for this one the bristol paper is Strathmore's standard white bristol paper with some adjustments over it. I do often use a cream colored drawing paper for my work, but I didn't for this one. Whenever I scan in an image on white bristol I have a Photoshop file I drop it into that has some custom adjustments and tones already in it. I do this mainly to even out any inconsistencies in the scan and kill the whites, but also because I just like the slightly warmer tone. Also, I totally agree, I would LOVE to see a toned Bristol paper on the market!!

Thanks for sharing Justin!! Is the Bristol you use tinted, or is it just the light? I've not seen a tinted Bristol, but I think I would hyperventilate if I did - I love the smoothness of that paper, but I also really like to work on toned paper! Thanks for being such an inspiration :)
