Man, it feels weird to finally be posting again after all this time. Weird, but good. Feels like we took a journey and wound up in a whole new world, both physically and digitally. Got a couple credit card processors to bug this week.

Leslie and I have been getting acquainted with Portland - figuring out how the bus and trains work, figuring out the nearest grocery stores, that kinda stuff. Today we finally got to take it easy and took a bus out to a theater to see Fantastic Four (which was pretty good!). No unpacking, no building furniture, no driving, just a nice little date and some video games.

I really can't stress enough just how... incredible it is, living in a city like this after being out in the woods for so long. Just the freedom to walk out of your living space and just go somewhere, anywhere, because there's things all around you. While I loved our serene nature and privacy in our swamp, it was easy to just feel trapped in it. Nothing for at least ten miles away, no people around, nothing. Louisiana is an extremely flat state below sea level. There's no scenic vistas. You're alone with nothing else but tall trees surrounding you, blocking your view of anything else. It becomes claustrophobic. But here, we're a 1,000 ft higher above Louisiana with hills and bends allowing you to see out for miles and miles, all the way to the horizon. There's so much freedom when you can finally see above the trees to all the rest of the city in front of you.

Also the food here FUCKS, HOLY SHIT THERE'S SO MANY GOOD OPTIONS JUST RIGHT ON OUR BLOCK
