Leslie and I had ourselves a romantic date night watching the new Puss in Boots movie! We were incredibly skeptical, but holy shit, it might just be one of my favorite animated movies ever now. Incredible animation, perfectly structured, some REALLY great jokes and character writing, very charismatic characters, and some amazingly crafted villains. Even made us tear up a couple times! Been thinking about it a lot since we saw it. A Shrek spin-off movie isn't supposed to be this good! It was so good, in fact, that we went back and rewatched Shrek 1 and 2 immediately after back-to-back. Shrek 2 holds up pretty well! Shrek 1... doesn't, really. So much of that movie is just like, musical montages of characters walking in the woods and doing slapstick. It's amazing that these things laid the ground for something as incredible as this new movie.
