You know, the great thing about tropes is that they’re so unpredictable. No really, if a trope is popular enough, and you see it happening a mile away, then you know the writers are in on it. They have to be, right? So then it becomes a guessing game of how they’re going to subvert this trope. The pressure is on, now. They must be clever enough to subvert the trope in ways you never thought of, even while you’re actively considering all the ways they CAN subvert it at that moment. So, what happens then if they play it completely straight? Is it trite and predictable, or is it a clever subversion OF the subversion? Or is playing it straight just a predictable subversion in of itself? It can’t be that clever, right? I guessed it already! And now I’ve built up the result so much now, EVERYONE will be happy with the result purely out of Stockholm syndrome. THIS is what true writing is, my dear Patrons! Just straight up GASLIGHTING.
Enjoy the boobs. See you on Monday!
