Something you might not catch without watching more anime is the accent the blue-haired girl talks with, in japanese it's a little joke because it's a teenager talking like an old timey gangster

2025-06-04 05:54:05 +0000 UTCI was following the manga as these chapters came out and I remember everyone being worried at first about where this arc was going after such a triumphant moment at the Cultural Festival. I think around here is where most people's worries were silenced. The way this series has this epic Hollywood romance moment, just to immediately turn that on its head and call it out for what it is, a fantasy, is so fascinating. Where other romance stories might just end there with "and then they lived happily ever after", this story uses that experience as the trigger to dive way deeper into the broken psychology of the main characters and these themes of masks and personas. All while being funny as hell at the same time. Just good stuff man.
