This is just a little update to keep you all in the know about some Patreon-related back end stuff - I woke up early today ready to get another post out, but found that one of the recent OFG bundles had been flagged for Community Guidelines purposes. It turns out Sabrina getting everyone to call John 'Daddy' was likely the problem in the bundle, because it was for the following:
'Sexually Gratifying Works - Real or animated works (photo, video, written, audio) featuring sexual activity or role play interactions between family members who are blood relatives or part of the same immediate family are not permitted on Patreon.'
So, the short-term stopgap is that I've edited the flagged Bundle to use a different pet name. The bigger issue is that this Guideline has been expanded since the last time I looked at it and now there are some other stories I need to consider the implications for, and what happens moving forward/what I need to do to get things in line.
I would rather not start a discussion on this issue in the comments, either about the Guideline itself or the possible implicated stories. This is just a notice that I'm doing some serious thinking/planning so that my entire career and platform doesn't implode and I have to go be my own OnlyFans girl or something (I don't think I'd be nearly as successful as my characters :P).
I'll keep you folks informed as I make decisions and of any changes that are happening.

CorruptingPower and I have, in fact, joked about needing to start OnlyFans if Patreon fails. There are some other options we'd likely go to first, it's just funny to think that we could end up there.

This suggests to me that they have a first pass of a computer that flags certain topics, then a human pass that might approve or not depending upon their interpretations of the rules.

2024-08-27 19:49:12 +0000 UTCThis sucks for so many reasons. The characters are consenting, and it’s used almost as much for the irony to get a rise out of John as it is for sexual mood setting. The use of “Daddy” & “Mommy” in sex play is so bogged down in the issue of sexualizing children. Similar to “Baby Girl” & “Baby Boy” I can see why the platform is trying to protect itself from getting embroiled in the issue. Then the use of AI moderation is fraught with consequences. It’s been shown that models thus far are more punitive of non-heteronormative behavior than similar content that is heteronormative. If the company is taking the machine’s flag as proof of wrongdoing, it’s going to de-platform creators whose only issue was some algorithm’s opinion. Trying to seek another platform takes energy and will cost creators like Break subs because the platform is easy (if obnoxious) to use. And having one more website to pay will be enough to prevent subs from following the creator if they move. If you do move, give us time to switch over.

2024-08-27 16:36:27 +0000 UTCThis is a possibility, but realistically if they get reported by someone and Patreon looks into it the creator is still at risk if their content is outside ToS even if it's hosted somewhere else. It's certainly a step removed from getting flagged by AI though. I'll keep this idea in my back pocket for now!
