I was staarting to worry if you'd gotten sick or lost electric power and was preparing to contact you when this story dropped. I can see you've simply been hard at work. Nicely done! Thanks for the clarification on "Hadouken."

2023-03-30 16:24:09 +0000 UTCVindicator got most of those questions correct. - Jerry didn't over-buff himself so that he could keep power available to react to what was going on. His reaction in the moment was that he wanted to question what the fuck Stoker was doing, so he tried to separate Stoker from Magic and it worked. - Hadouken IS a Street Fighter reference and is something of a meme. Jerry is a nerd, after all. - I've referenced his magic feeling different sometimes, and when he dumped all of his power into Annalise she found her own fire in the fuel he gave her. - Remember that Jerry has never really gotten in a fight, let alone killed someone. The decision to take someones life isn't an easy one for him; doing a Thanos Snap and just disappearing George from the Amplifier might have been the 'safest' even if not the most efficient, but it wouldn't give him any answers to questions. This is likely something that will come up again later.

2023-03-29 18:28:22 +0000 UTC1: Jerry essentially made a barrier/shield that works like a faraday cage does for electronics, the magic is there, but stoker can’t access it. 2: Hadouken is a Street Fighter move. It’s a fire punch if I remember right. 3: It might be a left over from Anna, but I doubt that, it’s his bottled anger and rage, a small nuclear battery for uses in emergencies as it’s raw mana that’s antithetical to where a seat of fertility gets its power from. Jerry gets power from acts of love, an act of hate would generate power of a chaotic action. 4: Jerry didn’t know what he was going to do with him and stopping him from using magic was step 1 in the Judgement plan. He may have executed him but given he was thinking of detainment he may have just CIA blacksite prisoned him. 5: Magic has a cost, the longer the distance to do something, the more it costs. If you go back to the initial judgement with Anna, Adama says exactly that, it takes power to do something, and it takes more power the further out you are. There’s also the fact that, while George was there, the Homunculus that was the plant-man was George enough for Jerry to locate him there. The real body could have been anywhere and there could have been innocent people there, he needed to get his hands on George to see it through especially when he cut him off from his magic.

Super interesting the exploration of his abilities in the leadup to the fight with Stoker and that there are other seats at play directly in confrontation with him!

2023-03-29 15:52:02 +0000 UTCsuper confused about a few things in this chapter: 1) what's the "separate him from magic" shield/spell? that was never pre-buffed or discussed. 2) who is Hadouken and how does Jerry know? 3) what's the hot burning nugget? is that something he got from Anna? 4) why didn't Jerry just kill him once he shielded him? 5) why didn't Jerry just kill him from a distance instead of going there?
