Agree, the dude said "and connected to them" and Fengming has a connection to Luomen. Not in a family related way

The family trees in this anime get a little complex

I think cliffhangers can be effective when used well, but it does feel like a lot of shows intentionally pace their episodes to end with a cliffhanger, which makes them lose impact in my opinion. Even if they don't have a cliffhanger, there's almost always some reveal to hook people to the next episode, to the point where most of the time I can tell whether there's a post-credits scene based on whether the pre-credits scene had closure.

Jinshi was absolutely drinking with Ah-Duo if that wasn't clear. There relationship is intentionally left ambiguous. That, as well as more of Jinshi's backround will be explored as the show progresses. The slow burn on a lot of the characters in this show is one of the things I love about it.

i think that baby part is just implying that jinshi is the son of the concubine that is leaving, with the whole baby swap stuff. so she didnt lose her actual son to the honey poisoning. but maomao did say it was an assumption so we will have to see if more things shed light. she did seem really messed up losing the baby, if she knew that it wasn't her's? but at the same time they keep dropping hints that jinshi looks like her and his farewell visit.

Yeah, I'm just going off of information already given in the show and speculating off that, hence the "I think".

Not at all what should be taken from that, but I can't really explain without giving the details provided next episode so I'll just wait on explaining until next week if it's still confusing then

Yeah, that's how I interpreted that line when I first saw this episode. Should really read the light novels to know for sure.

I don't think Jinshi was trying to hook up with the concubine, my read is that he just wanted to hang out, either as 1/ an eunuch, so not really that much of a choice (well, there's always a choice, but without the hormones being produced your libido is also null), parting with a good friend, or 2/ her son, parting with his mom.
And yeah anime cliffhangers are something else, this and last Steins Gate episode are great examples lol, big reveal into ED, an anime classic.

I think the bit at the end is that Jinshi figures out Mao Mao is Luomen's adoptive daughter.
