Hey everyone! I just put together a new Windows and Mac portable desktop app called MD Docs — it’s a Markdown editor that shows your Markdown side-by-side with multiple synchronized HTML previews. You can open several documents at once, use quick-access buttons to edit, and export your work as clean HTML whenever you need.
One feature I’m really excited about: it can automatically convert embedded base64 images back into regular image files. This is super handy if you ever export Google Docs to Markdown and end up with giant inline blobs of text instead of images.
You can drag and drop Markdown files straight onto the app to open them, and you can even set it as the default program so double-clicking a .md file opens it right away.
I built this because I wanted a fast, free, high-quality Markdown editor that worked offline — I’ve always loved stackedit.io, but sometimes I just don’t want to depend on an internet connection to edit Markdown.
If you run into any bugs or odd behavior, definitely let me know.
And if you're new to Markdown, here are two solid, beginner-friendly Markdown introductions you can safely share with your Patreon members:
The one I recommend for most people (clear + visual):

Also great, especially for quick reference:
If you want just one, go with the Markdown Guide link — it’s approachable, up-to-date, and explains things without drowning people in syntax.
Download it below. Just unzip and put somewhere you have access to on your hard disk. Be sure and read the Mac-Readme.txt if you're on a Mac.
