Hey folks, a belated Happy New Year!
Sorry I've been away, but it's been quite a journey the last couple of months. As many of you may know, I live on a horse ranch in Texas. And, just last month we sold it. We moved about 50 miles away to a more traditional house but one which still has two stables so my wife gets to keep her own horses. Still, it was quite a move as we have all kinds of barn equipment including tractors and four-wheel-drive machines not to mention a full metal and wood workshop.
To compound matters, I ended up throwing my back out early in the move and wasn't much good for anything but yapping and pointing. Still, after a few rounds with a chiropractor, I'm getting much better and starting to move things into place. One of the first things up was of course my computer, and then I had to finish out my maker space.
I thought it might be fun to demonstrate another way to use the METASHAPE add-on to create a metal pump. One of the key components of this tutorial is demonstrating a great way to decimate a voxelized model which has hundreds of thousands of faces. For this kind of modeling, I much prefer Blender's own remeshing solutions over the pricey Quadremesher product.
I find it's much better for creating post-Boolean affects and there is always little to no artifacting. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks to Anthony Aragues for help adding versioning to the METASHAPE addon!
