So, a while ago, I started thinking about creating a bunch of videos that show some of my favorite techniques when creating sci-fi models. Actually, just some of the tricks and maybe some design tips that go along with them. In this first one, is something I've been wanting to figure out for some time. So I sat down and just created a quick tutorial on how to do it both in video and there's also a little manual on the web as well.
So this trick works with any manifold object. You could do it with a meta-shape object that was for instance a bottle of some sort and you wanted to add a door to it. Or it could be a hatch going into some sort of storage area inside a spaceship. In the video I demonstrate it as simply as possible, but you can add your own bevels and other modifications to the. Keep in mind, the first cutter can be any shape you want so it does not necessarily have to mirror the shape of the original object. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.
