Hey everyone,
Just thought I would catch you up on the latest goings on. I've been working to create a Geometry Nodes Displacement Generator. It's coming along nicely and it currently has two different models. One is very similar to the existing JS placement displacement generator. The other actually uses models and inserts from KIT OPS.
I'm also working on workflows to help decimate superhigh resolution models into something much more manageable for scenes.
One of the things that I want to do is make sure that anything created with this new displacement generator can be wholly owned by the author and they can do with it whatever they please. And, this is in stark contrast to the license terms of the current JS placement and one of the reasons why I decided to create this.
And of course there will be a free version that enables people to create magnificent 32-bit displacement maps. And, the cool thing about 32-bit is that you can actually get cylinders, spheres and even ramp height maps that render perfectly.
I'm working with Andrew Market a.k.a. GREEZYBEAR, to create DPACKS which will have all sorts of different capabilities for creating useful and interesting displacement maps. I also plan on creating a tutorial course to show how to use displacement maps to create detail on 3D objects.
So, stay tuned, I think there's some interesting stuff ahead!
