Been working more on Gravity Sketch. The Collab feature is really nice as it's fun to hangout with folks like Greezybear and masterxeon1001 while learning the software.
What I'm after are things that can be difficult to do in Blender but are much easier to do in VR. For instance, consider the "hive" render image. While it's nothing at all, it is so easy to position and duplicate various panels in VR compared to Blender.
For those of you who don't know, Gravity Sketch is free on the $299 Quest VR headset, and comes with Landing Pad and Collab. This means you can actually work together in virtual 3D space to build things with friends. Cool stuff!
And speaking of the panels, I have a pretty fast workflow for creating them, and adding parting lines that are just 'black' lines-- which become boolean subtractions when exported to Blender (see the metallic rendered scene above). All the images abovee are rendered in VR with the execption of the metallic panel one.
Jama did an interesting talk at the Gravity Sketch conference. I know they'll get around to posting it soon, but I screen grabbed it for anyone who wants to see it. He was one of the only ones I saw who actually demo'ed the product. Here's a link to the video:
And here is the first workflow tutorial for Blender folks. Step-by-Step notes converting your Blender meshes to Gravity Sketch with textures: http://cw1.me/gs
