Hey everyone,
For awhile now, I've wanted to create a workflow to create things like custom spaceframes and die cast rib armature structures for an overall industrial look to some objects. One of the challenges is always getting the ribs designed correctly. I've done other videos on this subject, and they are mostly subtractive. For instance see https://youtu.be/2BdFHRvJQ7M for an example of a subtractive workflow.
This workflow is an additive workflow. There are several advantages of an additive workflow, the main one being you get to see exactly what you're going to end up with. Also, this workflow allows for more customization of the final part.
There is a bit of tedium to converting the Skin modifier to a usable top face. I tried several other processes, and the Remesh + Decimate seemed to work the best for all cases.
Best,
Chipp
