Shushing or the "shh shh shhh" and the "It's alright.... you're safe" are great triggers! Also... and not really a trigger, I guess, but part of the delivery (maybe?), I love the explained reasons - like "why does Mommy love you to be a puppy? oh, sweetie, because puppies don't have to think, they just have to be loved, and you need to put down all that weight" or "why punishment? because boundaries and limits are important and they don't mean anything without consequences" or things like that.
