2025-06-30 12:06:14 +0000 UTCWendy was definitely off at the start of Heart on the Window, but she was INSANELY nervous to be performing with a member of BTS and also to be performing in front of ARMY, the biggest and most powerful fanbase in the world. She said she felt like she was debuting all over again and she was all in knots and shaking. I'm frankly impressed she didn't fall down the stairs. What you are hearing in her voice is incongruous rookie nerves in an otherwise very polished performer. You can see her eyes are full of tears at the end of the song because she is just so overcome. The fact this collab happened at all is kind of a miracle. BTS has seldom collabed with idols because of how the industry has blacklisted and abused them. Most of their collabs are indie artists and western artists. Exceptions are Taeyang, Crush, PSY, IU - all artists big enough to do whatever the hell they want, label wars be damned. Red Velvet's label, SM, is HYBE and BTS' biggest enemy in the music industry and have been caught multiple times in illegal activities in their quest to sabotage them. There is a huge court case happening right now regarding some of that. I would put Kakao in that category of biggest enemies too , but Kakao bought SM, so they are one and the same now. BTS and HYBE and ARMY are presented as boogeymen to SM artists by their management. They are not encouraged to fraternize and they DEFINTELY are not getting collabs organized with each other. This collab happened because Jin was out to dinner with some friends and talking about needing a female vocalist to collab with for this song on the album he was working on. One of the people at the table was a friend of Wendy's (who deserved a Wingman of the Year award) and suggested her. When Jin expressed glowing approval for her vocals the friend immediately called Wendy and handed Jin the phone. Wendy for certain arranged this collab through her own personal management and not her label. The label completely ignored the collab, giving it no support whatsoever. I am sure they were also bitter that this song they disowned was their biggest debut that year and second biggest in history at SM. We were joking that Wendy must have climbed out a window at SM and shimmied down a drainpipe to do this, and the live performance together was a real shock. We never thought SM would allow it. When it was announced shortly after that Wendy was leaving SM and was under new management things made more sense. It was an incredibly smart career move for her to make this connection with Jin right as she was escaping SM, who are bleeding artists right now. This was for sure her biggest song ever. ARMY embraced her with open arms and added her to our list of ARMY darlings, the female friends of BTS whom we love, along with Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, IU and others. On the album, she sings the hell out of this song, and I have no doubt if she was given a do-over live performance she would knock it out of the park. She will likely get her chance to do that when Jin's tour this summer swings back to S Korea. She has already seen Jin again when he came on her radio interview show and they expressed to each other that either would come whenever the other called to work with them. BTS also has a standard process with collabs - They pay the artists, not the labels, and they do a collab swap. So Wendy will have another collab with Jin coming sometime in the future on one her own songs., which I am sure will then be her second biggest song ever, just by virtue of the size of ARMY, who now consider her one of our girls.

2025-06-26 15:12:43 +0000 UTCI love Heart On the Window, is one of my faves tracks of Jin, but I have to agree that (I love Wendy's voice, she's an amazing singer) her voice wasn't that right in the speed of the song, something bothers me about the sound in the live performance, but I do think it's related to her mic or sound. However, I love the interaction, it's nice to hear them in 2025, Jin and Red Velvet have history of being kind and interested on each other, I'm sure they're good friends💜💗
