As with all of Taeyongs SoundCloud songs, this is written and co-composed by him, he was very close to Baek during this period and asked him to feature before leaving for the military. I bring this up to say…not a SuperM subunit, not SM leaving space for TY to write lyrics, and absolutely 0 credit to SM who wouldn’t even officially release any of his songs during this entire era. Hence the SoundCloud, and eventually releases on his own Youtube channel with no backing from SM.

They really wanted to do a song together, so Taeyong pulled out a few of the 50+ songs he’s written and keeps in his back pocket. After asking some NCT members which one he should sing with Baekhyun, we got “Monroe” released on TY’s SoundCloud just before Baekhyun enlisted. FYI: TY wrote ALL the lyrics. He makes a lot of allusions to art, mythology, fashion, etc. He references Mars as the god of war stepping in to fight off the other guys (wolves) trying to get his girl. Some things may also be lost in translation or just subject to artistic interpretation. 😅 But as weird as TY’s lyrics sometimes sound, they always have a deeper meaning. This song is called “Monroe” because he imagined Marilyn Monroe as the female protagonist.

2025-05-15 13:27:36 +0000 UTCWow, I never expected Leftover! Neither here nor in Caratland. I am glad you enjoyed it! Wonu is my bias, and I love Leftover. And this was almost at the end. And there I was chilling and laughing up until this point, and then I was sitting and crying at Caratland ㅠㅠ I really didn't expect this, like 96ers and CBZ were expected, but not this! And he is so good, like he's a rapper but sings so well! AAHHH. And for the hotpack, it was very cold, haha. On Day 1, we got 1 free hotpack from the staff before entering, and it was just so cold that Day-2-Carats got 2 hotpacks. My nose was RED haha.
