Extraordinary Attorney Woo - Episode 3

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Patreon. We're back with another K-Drama reaction for you here today.

In Episode 3 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo, we navigate some deeply emotional themes that resonate strongly with us, especially as parents of autistic children. This episode opened us up in unexpected ways and deepened our appreciation for the show’s sensitive handling of autism.

The plot kicks off with a harrowing incident where a severely autistic young adult is accused of attacking his older brother, who tragically dies as a result. The focus shifts to the parents, who seem torn between protecting their elder son’s reputation and ensuring a future for their autistic child. As the case unfolds, the narrative takes several shocking twists that culminate in a dramatic conclusion.

The episode thoughtfully explores the autism spectrum, highlighting how autism presents differently in each individual. It tackles the misconceptions people have and the often-limited understanding that can lead to mischaracterisation of a person’s struggles. Additionally, the challenges of parenting autistic children are addressed, hinting that this will be a recurring theme throughout the series.

This episode strikes a powerful chord, blending emotional depth with a compelling legal drama, making it a poignant addition to Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

I've said this previously, but I'm really glad you guys are reacting to this show. This will be my 3rd time watching it, and each time, it still brings tears to my eyes and makes me smile. I've watched A LOT of kdramas over the years, and this genuinely is one of my favorite shows that I've ever watched.

This show's empathy is magnificent. And it's respectful. Even when you chuckle or smile because of some autistic thing she does, it's not about making fun of her but just basically showing how different she is. It's respectful of how scary it is as a parent about what will happen to them. I love how it this episode shows of how autism affects people so differently and even how they relate to each other. I saw it when I took my son to a summer camp for autistic children years ago. So many different kids on every part of the spectrum. I know this show has some seriously emotional moments, but it's beautiful and well done. Thanks for reacting to it.

Just to give you advanced warning, there are multiple moments scattered through this series that I teared up watching. But this show is a great example that if you avoid all content that contains moments of sadness, you would miss out on some wonderful really worthwhile things to watch so I'm actually glad this one somehow infiltrated past your security checkpoint on emotions.
