100 Days My Prince - Episode 3

🎥 Along for the Ride

Join Kerry and Simon as they explore Episode 3 of "100 Days My Prince," where humour meets intrigue in an unexpected village wedding. This episode introduces a delightful twist, as Yul, suffering from amnesia, unwittingly becomes Hong-shim’s husband to avoid the dubious intentions of others.

The episode opens with a comedic scene as Hong-shim’s father declares that her long-lost fiancé, Won-deuk (who is actually Yul), has returned. Yul, clueless about his true identity and connection to Hong-shim, finds himself in a series of hilarious misunderstandings and reluctant agreements. Watch as Kerry and Simon discuss Yul’s awkward attempts to adapt to village life, his snobbish mishaps, and the humorous moments that lighten the mood of their impending, unplanned wedding.

Meanwhile, at the palace, the plot thickens with Queen Park, who sees Yul's disappearance as an opportunity to advance her son’s claim to the throne. Her secret delight contrasts sharply with the façade of sorrow she presents, adding a layer of political intrigue to the story. Kerry and Simon explore the dynamics within the royal family, highlighting the clever interplay of public and private agendas.

This episode skillfully blends light-hearted comedic elements with serious political manoeuvres, creating a rich narrative that Kerry and Simon examine with their insightful commentary. They discuss the evolving relationship between Yul and Hong-shim, the comedic elements that bring the village to life, and the suspenseful royal schemes, all while anticipating the challenges and changes that this new marriage will bring to both their lives.

Just fyi, the gift her father gives her before the wedding was a hair pin (married ladies wear buns, unmarried plaits). This is fast becoming one of my favourite things to look forward to during the week. Thank you, can't wait for the next episode!

Faces of royalty were usually kept hidden from most of the public to discourage assassination. It's usually a royal seal or certain articles of clothes and seals that were used to prove royalty identity.

She didn't run away from him at the bridge because she recognized him. She ran because her family was slaughtered for treason and therefore, if discovered she would be executed.

So the village is a bit of a ways away from Hanyang, the capital city (modern day Seoul). Chances are incredibly slim that anyone from the capital would wander into this little village out in the mountains. The nobles invited to the crown prince’s birthday would’ve been miles above anyone here in terms of status. Also, even people from the capital wouldn’t necessarily be familiar with the prince’s face. Because there were no photographs, newspapers or media back then, 99% of the people had no clue what their monarch’s looked like, they only identified them by their specific attire and their entourage. Even palace guards and staff outside of the royal’s personal aides wouldn’t know their faces, as the palace grounds were quite large, like a mini town. Furthermore, everyone was required to keep their heads bowed in the presence of royalty, so not many people had the opportunity to look at their faces directly beyond occasional glances.

I love this show so much. Besides being a love story, it’s a perfect balance between the ridiculous and the sinister. And it’s so smart. I’ve watched a lot of dramas but few measure up to 100 DMP in terms of dialogue and delivery.

Love this show. There is a video where D.O teaches several members of the cast the choreo to Growl that is definitely worth watching as well. This show is how I discovered EXO.
