I love this movie so much! This was a great reaction. I had a feeling Mrs. Movies would enjoy this. It's got great characters, a wonderful story, a terrifying villain, it's well paced and just loads of fun. It's a great little adventure film.
The show sadly is a far cry from the movie. I did see it when it was airing on Disney Plus. In Fact that show was the only reason I had signed up for Disney Plus. I cancelled my Disney Plus right after it concluded. Unfortunately the show was god awful. It starts off okay for the first episode but the end credits music made me sceptable. I won't go into any spoilers just in case but I will say after the 2 or maybe 3rd episode it really took a nose dive. Half the episodes were just pointless filler nonsense garbage, some of which even angered me and annoyed me to no end. A number of characters were just bland. Relationships felt forced and manufactured and conflicts between characters even more so. Some of the main characters were just all together unlikeable. It's pacing was terrible and there were some other plot elements that I just didn't like. Then there was the music, they included modern music which given that the original film didn't have this-it just didn't fit. They basically did a similar thing that was done for A Knights Tale which was the main reason I didn't care for that movie. And for this show in particular it just didn't fit. I think they also changed a bit of lore from the film but it's tough to recall now. Only watched the show once - which was more than I'd care to.
The show was just garbage. it didn't respect the movie at all nor the characters and really sullied the experience of the film.
There are books that follow the movie though. Chronicles of the Shadow War. Book 1 is called: Shadow Moon(1995). Book 2 is called Shadow Dawn (1996). Book 3 is called Shadow Star (1999). I haven't read them yet but from what I have read about them the first book picks up one year after the fall of Queen Bavmorda. Writing credits list Chris Claremont and George Lucas.

Willow has a bad rep, but it's the best of the 80s fantasy movies, val kilmer and Joanne Whaley fell in love making this movie and later got married
There is a subplot cut from the movie that makes her characters turn to good make more sense and not be as abrupt
Also with so many little people actors hired for the village they ended up treating it like a big party, like a convention/reunion since rarely did they get a chance to hangout and meet with so many others
