Ryan from twitter - This really is one of the GOATS when it comes to model work, CGI, physical sets and so on. I STRONGLY encourage you to watch the making of - its long but watch the opening 15 minutes and you'll see just how much went into making this movie. Grew up watching this loving submersibles and so on. The movie is near perfect. The setup/plot, (like Twister) introduces us to the cast/crew/characters very well, the performances of nearly every actor - Ed Harris's performance is obviously amazing but Michael Biehn a Coffee is also solid. Sure he's an asshole but to see his slow fall into the pressure with the twitches of his hands, line delivery and so on really gets overlooked. The Water Tentacle is one of the most important pieces of CGI ever done. Without it breaking new ground, we would (and I mean this) not have gotten T2, or Jurassic Park how we got em. Alan Silvestri does great work if not a little underwhelming say for the big pieces like the rising scene at the end. - TRIVIA - if you look in Twister AND T2 the Benthic Petroleum logo(company they work for) is on the Tanker truck that literally falls in front of Bill and Joe, AND its on the gas pumps that Arnold an company drive by going into the garage in the cop car. I mean you COULD argue they are the in the same universe . . . but that means Judgement Day would be skynet vs humans and UTI's lol. The "Hammer" making a comeback and the satisfying punch edit is one of the best out there. The callback is epic lol. You think he's juts messing around or being tough like any former marine would be (Especially against Seals) but god damn is the punch epic.
