This sequence, particularly 293, mirrors a comic page from the predecessor story to KttFF, Cat Comixz. Funny enough, it was Cat Comixz page /93/ that the exchange happened on the other end!
The TACO and this phone were always going to be things that played into KttFF. Or, at least that was always the plan. I've debated a lot with myself about things to recon from CC. Ultimately, as long as it shows up in KttFF, it's canon.
I struggled a bit with where to PUT the phone in this story, however, hence my hesitation. Mercifully, I moved up Simon's arrival to "right at the beginning of the chapter," so I had an excuse for Leon and Luca to go try and find/get in touch with him.
