I used to watch this movie with my dad. I have such a love for it because of those memories. The movie probably looks cheap to you because it was an early independent film, shot over the course of two years. Billy Jack and Jean are real life husband and wife and were very heavy into the political scene and independent cinema until their deaths. Tom (Billy Jack) even ran for the Presidential nomination a couple of times.
