An oddball classic for sure. You'd never really expect this to come from someone like Martin Scorsese. Cheech and Chong in it kinda throws you for a loop but still make it funny. Saw it in 35mm at Music Box Theater Chicago so that made the experience all the more trippy.

Griffin Dunne never became a big star but he really nailed this part. Something Wild (1986) is another bizarre and interesting comedy/thriller that is a bit similar to After Hours. Into The Night (1985) with Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Pfeiffer is another.

By the time he gets to the 4th or 5th girl and is completely terrified of everything, it's just non stop laughter from me. I feel the film's massively under-appreciated and definitely underrated. I can see why it hasn't received the same attention of Scorsese's other films as it's far less showy than his others and doesn't have a big star attached to it. One of my top faves from the 80s. If anyone wants a great representation of NYC in the 80s, this is it. Dark, wacky, and fun. Surrender Dorothy!
