2023-08-09 22:26:14 +0000 UTCIt’s a great character moment but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s super nuanced lol. It’s simply not one dimensional (which is basic character writing 101, reveal a different side to a character) because prior to the scene he and snoop *were* basically one dimensional killing tools and this added one more layer to him and her reaction was a nice touch too. It’s not a knock on the show. It juggles a lot of characters and isn’t ever gonna have the same nuance for the characters the same way Sopranos or Succession can have because this show is more focused on the macro picture and themes and not a straight character drama. I do like how understated it was executed though. Like you said, he simply gave a slight look and the show let the audience infer what it means. A lessor show would have a clumsier dialogue conveying the same info but this show is okay with the audience missing some context if they aren’t paying as much attention which can be more rewarding on a rewatch.

2023-08-08 22:11:01 +0000 UTCI have always had so much appreciation for how nuanced the characters are. Chris, in this particular case. Yes, he's a stone-cold killer, but they keep giving you little hints that there's more to him and, in episode 10 when he looks at Michael and immediately understands the situation and later lets his passion and anger overtake him, that shit just adds so much depth. Chris doesn't really say anything in either scene, but SO MUCH is conveyed through looks. Great writing, great directing, great acting.
