And the real life inspiration pops up in the show in season four. Obviously not going into who he plays or what kind of role he has because that's a spoiler, but Donnie Andrews is the guy's name. (Technically, Omar was inspired by multiple people but Donnie Andrews is the primary one, just as Melvin Williams, aka the deacon who helps Cutty and Colvin, is the primary inspiration for Avon Barksdale even though he's not the only inspiration.)
