It's believed Arthur was based on a real person, some historians think he was probably the son of a Roman elite and a Briton. After the Romans pulled out of Britannia, around the 400s, there was a power vacuum, and some Germanic tribes, the Angles and the Saxons especially, looking for land as the Huns pushed west from Asia, took the opportunity to begin invading en masse. Arthur was likely a warrior and leader who united some of the remaining Celtic/Roman people and had some military success against the Germans, so he became a folk hero and of course the legends just got bigger over time. The Angles, Saxons, and Jutes eventually conquered Britannia and that's where Angland and Anglish, aka England and English, come from. Sorry, hope I didn't "actually" too much there lol Love this movie btw, so epic. Also, one of the knights was played by Ciaran Hinds, pronounced like "Keeran" I think, he's the most unrecognizable, he played Julius Caesar in HBO's Rome, and Mance Rayder in GoT.

Both of you should watch The Green Knight! It's good stuff. That's the most recent take on the Arthurian legend, I believe. Enjoyed watching this with you both. Took an hour or two long break in the middle of it though because I had someone appear for a bit. I didn't want to restart the movie because I know the story already and restarting reactions is never fun. The movie itself though was pretty entertaining for a classic take on the story. Glad that you both enjoyed it. :)
