2023-06-14 19:52:49 +0000 UTCThe politics stuff is great and adds more layers to the disfunction of the police station that isn't just "police bad and ineffectual". Like they are, but there's a reason for it. Littlefinger's plotline is stealthly one of the most important in the entire series and we're getting a more simplistic version since David Simon wanted to spinoff the politics section into it's own show to fit more content but HBO wouldn't go for it due to The Wire's ratings at the time (and throughout it's run) being poor compared to basically every other HBO flagship at the time.
