Noticed at the 14 min mark or so you said you’d be interested in seeing the wire in 2023 with fentanyl involved. Well, there is a super underrated one season show HBO did called “the corner” that focuses on heroin addicts in Baltimore. A couple of the actors from the wire are in that show. Not exactly what you mentioned, but definitely in that realm. 100% worth checking out at some point. It’s a bummer at times, but sooo good.

Oh it picks up after this for sure. And then just keeps on going until the last episode. Best fucking show ever made

Same.

Somehow I knew the Bubs/"McNutty" reveal was going to be the teaser :)

Had to subscribe just to see the McNutty line land.

Also an easter egg about that scene which makes it even better DAVID SIMON (CREATOR): We’re standing at a crime scene. We’re staring, and cops are just cursing left and right. Somebody said something that was so profanity laden that Terry McLarney(Homicide detective) just started giggling and saying, “One day we’re going to get to the point where we’re all going to be able to just use the word fuck to communicate.” And it was just a throwaway line for Terry, but I remembered it. So, I came to Ed with it, and then Ed wrote that scene.

fantastic choice of show cant wait for it. smack/dope - heroin coke - cocaine meth/ice - methamphetamine The Mrs isn't alone in struggling with the dialect and dialouge, was kinda lost the first time would recommend subtitles for the first watch or just tough it out as it becomes second nature.

Will start to ramp up now everyone has been introduced. People who don't like this show give up before epsiode 5. The lines of dialogue Mrs isn't getting is the same for everyone who is watching for the first timw. They purposely don't explain street lingo or police/operational procedural language. I saw an interview with the guy who plays Major Valcheck ( Pres' father in law btw) who said he'd never had a script before which came with a glossary. Because it's not just street lingo, it's a Baltimore specific street dialect on top of the police specific stuff. David Simon wrote a very good book about his time in the homicide unit and in that he explains the terms and langue used by the police and the drug dealers. Doesn't get explained in the show.

That scene singlehandedly shows up all the crappy shows like CSI inside 5 mins and with one word of dialogue.

Honestly, if the “fuck” scene doesn’t get new viewers on board, nothing will. Iconic scene in TV history. Enjoying the reactions! I can tell y’all are starting to get pulled in. And you’ve now met my favorite character: Lester Freamon. Cool Lester Smooth.

The wire starts slow, with so many characters the build up is slow. then it just keeps getting better and better. Re-up = refill the drug stash.

The best character in the series makes his entrance
