At the time the convoluted plot and off-beat humor were too much for typical theater-goers, but the movie built a cult following quickly. And "Wherever you go, there you are" became a widely-known meme before memes were a thing. Favorite character? For me it was Buckaroo, probably because he got most of the best lines. "The deuce you say!"
