John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) | Full-Length Commentary

Full-Length Commentary for John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

This is a watch-along, you need your own copy of the film.

Note: Regarding the Sync Issues with JW2.

Our reaction is in perfect sync for the vast majority of the movie IF YOU DO NOT MESS WITH IT.  The First desync is at about the 4-minute mark, the scenes get a bit scrambled, but the movie resyncs on its own at about the 5:50-minute mark.  Just leave it alone and it will resync by itself.  The Second desync is at about 29:30 the same thing happens again, lasting until about 31:50.  It is during this one that we comment on weird sound editing. Again, it will resync by itself if you leave it alone.  Both periods of scenes-not-matching last about two minutes each.  From that point to the end of the movie, I was able to complete the watch-along without it losing sync with your embedded copy. So just power thru and don't touch your movie after you sync it at the start and you'll be able to enjoy the majority of the movie with us. Something must have corrupted the rip we watch and edit with.

Thank you Thomas Y for helping us get to the bottom of this issue.

Good news! Regarding the sync issues being reported - they are overstated. It is certainly not "the whole movie". In fact, using a Blu-Ray rip that I have used previously with MANY other reactors, your version is in perfect sync for the vast majority of the movie IF YOU DO NOT MESS WITH IT. First, at about the 4 minute mark, the scenes get a bit scrambled, but the movie resyncs on its own at about the 5:50 minute mark. Just leave it alone and it will resync by itself. Second, at about 29:30 the same thing happens again, lasting until about 31:50. It is during this one that you guys comment on weird sound editing. Again, it will resync by itself if you leave it alone. Both periods of scenes-not-matching last about two minutes each. From that point to the end of the movie, I was able to complete the watch-along without it losing sync with your embedded copy. I am thinking that either your Blu-Ray was corrupt, or something went wrong during your original rip. If you can get a clean copy, and you still have your work files, you might be able to just edit in the clean sections since they are both so short and post a fixed version of your reaction. Admittedly, your reaction audio during those few moments won't sync with the video you are showing, but they are very short, and people doing the watch-along most likely won't try to resync their versions unnecessarily since they will still be in sync with the embedded video.

its your copy that is messed up mine is fine ive had mine for a few years

For me. I think I rate the john wick 1then 3 then 2. But depends on the day. They are all evenly as good imo

Squ33ky

Oh really? It was all over the place from the beginning for me. The opening scenes were out of order or shortened. The last straw was the conversation with Wintston switching to Santiago in the art gallery but if you say things get back on track without any more problems after that i might give it another shot tomorrow.

SavageDiplomat

I watched on Amazon and it was weird that they shifted his conversation with Wintston into the middle of his talk with Santiago in the art exhibit early on. That was the only issue I had. It stayed synced after that.

You may have just got that random version that the majority of us didnt get. Stuff like this is bound to happen every once in a while. When you get a chance rewatch the version on amazon prime and you'll see the differences.

SavageDiplomat

Honestly, that was the only scene that was odd like that, after he got the car back it didn't have any jarring cuts if I remember right. Trying to figure out what the deal is...

You, Me, & The Movies

Yeah its a shame. Hopefully you guys still enjoyed it but i can tell you picked up on a few flaws in your version like the audio etc probably because it wasn't in the final version of the film that most of us watched. .

SavageDiplomat

Weird. Pretty sure we just got the trilogy collection from wal-mart sometime ago.

You, Me, & The Movies

Its the whole movie. From start to around 33 minutes in. I couldn't continue watching after that point tbh as most scenes were out of place, extended or shortened. I honestly have never seen this version and ive watched it multiple times. I doubt i could find this version without buying the exact blu ray you bought tbh.

SavageDiplomat

Is it the first scene only or the whole movie?

You, Me, & The Movies

Yeah sadly i had to drop this reaction even though this is arguably better than part 1.

SavageDiplomat

Yeah whatever version you watched is all over the place tbh

SavageDiplomat

I'm watching from my bluray, and the sync is funky. I'm guessing yours has the deleted scenes added in. That might also be why you're see 'weird edits' and 'bad audio'. The deleted scenes weren't very polished

TGrimace

Could explain the weird shifts in the editing. Odd.

You, Me, & The Movies

The scenes were out of order. His conversation with Winston was shifted around with him heading to see Santiago.

Reed James

I started watching on Amazon so maybe its there version which is problematic. No worries guys πŸ‘

SavageDiplomat

Just a rip from our Blu-ray trilogy collection. It’s 122 minutes long says the box.

You, Me, & The Movies

I dont know what version you guys are watching but its different from the versions others watch. Tbh i never knew there was an alternate version until your reaction
