2023-02-05 14:30:58 +0000 UTCThe backpacks has water and rations which is why they aren't just leaving them. Remember the battle is across a couple of days. Fun fact is this is Tarantino's favorite film that came out since he became a director (at least from 1992-2009) and one that he wished he made himself. Also, I believe the film was quite controversial when it came out and was even banned from distribution to some countries. Overall a pretty good and unique film that has quite an anime feel to it. The acting is probably the only major flaw and was extremely hammy at some points, though I believe the actors are all pretty young here so can't fault too much. Definitely a film where you have to remember that they're all teenagers so you don't eyeroll yourself to death with some of the priorities and dialogue.

2023-02-05 07:58:46 +0000 UTCWhen I watched this movie the first time ages ago, I enjoyed it so much I read the novel and then the manga. That’s the first time I had ever done that. I think overall the manga is the best just for all the additional details that was added to it, but its also the most brutal out of the three.

2023-02-05 00:34:33 +0000 UTCSuzanne Collins (Hunger Games) denied she'd ever heard of the Battle Royale novel before she turned in her novel for publishing. Leaving the constant harping over the backpacks in the edit is definitely a choice.
