just going to comment on the dangers of cauterizing an open wound. considering laura doesn't likely know how to do a shrapnel search, she cannot by any means close that wound. stopping blood is not the top priority in this situation. if it was a limb, sure. but not knowing the full extent of an injury it could do more harm than good. filling his abdomen in blood for example. she did however fail to search the extent of the injury among other things
