This is one of my all time favorite King stories and I’m thrilled someone finally reacted to it. Here’s my 2 cents: 1) Linoge is a Dark/Evil Wizard. He’s not a god or one of the immortals, as he said. Hence why he needs an apprentice. And 2) it’s not an impossible choice. Physical life is not an end unto itself. To live with/for the devil (devil figuratively) is worse than death. So yes, better that everyone say “No” to Linoge and risk physical death and keep their souls. Also I believe it’s very possible that he could’ve killed them all as he said. He couldn’t make Kat’s boyfriend kill her because he can’t make them choose sin. He exposes it and pushes them towards their temptations which is why she ultimately gave in and killed her boyfriend. But putting them all in a trance and making them walk off a cliff into the sea (like the pigs in the gospel story), yes I believe he could’ve done that.

Also, I don't know if you picked up on it, but Linoge is an anagram for Legion, which in the Bible, refers to a group of demons that Jesus exorcised from a man, into a herd of pigs, which then ran off a cliff

2022-12-27 23:35:53 +0000 UTCI always felt like Dolores and Vera probably stayed at Vera’s mansion during the storm. The end of this miniseries made me so mad when I first watched. I really have come to feel that Linoge may have been lying about his ability to kill everyone to trick them. He couldn’t even make Billy kill his girlfriend who had an abortion. He just used parlor tricks to fool them into thinking they had no choice. He psychologically broke them down.
