I agree It Follows and Fallen would be great reactions

Adri

SMILE was just an inferior retread of IT FOLLOWS in my opinion.

Patrick Flanagan

Another movie with similar premise is Fallen (1998) starring Denzel Washington and John Goodman.

Wenona Bellmore

If you two haven’t seen it yet, “IT FOLLOWS” would be a great follow up to this and “THE RING.”

I think that was the point of the statement that trauma causes wounds, if those wounds are untreated/open then it provides an avenue for infection to take hold, in this case the smile entity. Edit: To further clarify the analogy, without the wound there isn't a skin break for the infection to enter, so yes the curse skips them but that wouldn't be an issue because the entity chooses the time of the suicide and only does it in front of somebody who is vulnerable. Now in the event of a murder that may not be the case but presumably it just wouldn't jump like if you murdered without a witness.

Alan Pownall

Even if Rose had survived, that wouldn't have meant there couldn't be a sequel. Remember the guy in prison said he read about a similar story in Brazil. Which means the chain weren't only linked to the people in this storyline. My only question is does a person need to have trauma in their past to transfer the curse.

Yeah I’m with Mrs movies with that extra 10 or so minutes to add a downer of and ending not being so good. Sometimes scary movies need a downer ending, but I think with the message the movies trying to tell regarding mental health, I don’t think telling your audience that you can’t help yourself is that good.

So same with mental health you can't escape the entity. You think it's gone but it's always there. I also think they were trying to point out the idea of passing trauma to others.

So... what if this thing attached itself to the Joker?
