This film was way better than the original. Seen it a few times now. Just better made movie, story and so on

2022-11-30 01:45:38 +0000 UTCSunset moves around 1000mph, Mach 10 is about 7800mph at that altitude. So yep, he could beat sunset. The turns he makes are actually probably way too tight for that speed (only about the radius of a state or so, about half the turn radius they would probably do). Ejecting at that speed would be… rough… but an SR71 (the test plan is a plausible design for its replacement) broke apart in testing at over Mach 3 and the pilot survived. One moment alarms going off, the next he’s falling without an airplane around him anymore. Mach 10.2 is much faster and probably a stretch for the movie, but not TOTALLY impossible a system could be designed that would survive it. Probably ejecting a capsule around the cockpit like the F111 was designed to do.

2022-11-29 03:08:37 +0000 UTCTodays audience needs more to its score than the 80's film could deliver. I was worried it would either be overkill or drowned out by classic rock. I was surprised on multiple levels just how good the film score here really is. The bit when he says talk to me goose in the stealth jet, the darkstar mission theme/track actually only makes another appearance at the end when Mav and Rooster are planning the F14 escape - SO GOOD! Go back and listen - its almost like a closure for Mav's career.

You'd be surprised how many of these reactors I've watched for this who think they're funny and want to make a Riff Track. You're my people. Nice pull on Lewis Pullman. You're the first channel that's acknowledged that 👍 The only regret I have is for you. I wish you could've seen this in the theater. Maybe you can rent a theater and watch it 🤷🏻♂️ That's so cool about your friend's Dad. I used to have a friend who's Dad was a SEAL. Every time we would ask him to tell us stories about his missions he would say the same thing: I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you Lol Never change, guys 🤘 My favorite pilot other than Maverick and Rooster is Hangman. He was an asshole, but he was also a friggin genius. That clutch ending was the flip for him, IMO.
