I'm the exact same way with gambling. It drives me completely fucking nuts. Losing money for no good reason makes me absolutely miserable. I just straight up don't gamble. What sucks is that, anytime there is a situation where everyone is gambling, I try to tell them that I'll just watch, but they always want me to participate, so they'll give me money to gamble with. My natural inclination is to just take the money and cash out immediately, but that's not okay, for some reason, so I have to sit there and just lose everything that they gave me. I never, ever win anything. It's a really awful experience that I have again and again and nobody seems to understand why it bothers me. They're always just like, 'what do you care if it wasn't even your money anyway?' and I cannot get them to understand that I DON'T LIKE LOSING YOUR MONEY EITHER. Even with your direct permission and encouragement. It is not fun. It is not exciting. It is exclusively upsetting and frustrating. And, in the end, I can never forget that you just made me throw away enough money to pay a bill/buy groceries/pay rent/buy a new computer, etc. I swear, gambling is just the dumbest shit ever.
