Y’all need to watch Red Eye (2005) —it’s a Wes Craven film that is suspense/thriller. I think y’all would really like it.

Spielberg was the producer of all three and had a large part in their creation, especially Poltergeist, which he wrote and many have said he ghost directed, and your right, there are better horror comedies, but most of them lose much of their scares because of the comedy. I found Arachnophobia to be funny and at times, truly scary.
