I believe the issue was that Captain Ramsay attempted to relieve his XO without grounds. The two-man rule has always been in place for the use of nuclear weapons. Commander Hunter was within his authority to refuse to concur to launch, but Captain Ramsay was NOT within his authority to relieve him and replace him with a new XO, thus, Commander Hunter had solid grounds for relieving the CO and assuming command. I think it would have been a lot ballsier if they get the radio working and find out they have to launch after all, but, this was a summer blockbuster from Disney and that kind of a downer ending probably wouldn't have over too well with audiences. I actually think Rom Lim drew a better Silver Surfer than either Jack Kirby or Moebius, but what do I know.

2022-01-24 22:34:18 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! Kirby Silver Surfer IS the best silver surfer! Lol, I don't think the Mrs understands procedure. Rank is irrelevant in this situation, also it's the 1990s so things have changed since then. Glad she enjoyed it even though it messed with her head lol. The point of the film is it's a "What if" scenario, where procedure and rank come into conflict. I personally feel rank should always come first, procedure is just texts and books, doesn't prepare for the real world.
