I'd like to see them do a Hannibal Lecter movie today. Bring back Anthony Hopkins and either Jodie Foster or Julianne Moore. Let's see what Hannibal has been doing the last 20 years. Bring Clarice out of retirement to see if she's still got it in her for one last hunt. My personal idea is - Hannibal is dying (cancer or something like that), but he doesn't want to die like a normal person, a sheep. He wants Clarice to end him.... if she can. He won't make it easy for her. - They're running out of time to do it because I don't expect Anthony Hopkins to keep acting for much longer. The problem would be finding a writer who could pull it off. Seems like a serious lack of high level writing talent in Hollywood now-a-days.

Enjoyed the reaction, but would STRONGLY suggest watching Manhunter if you still haven't seen it. It's a far superior film to this one. Essentially the same story, but far better performances, music, and Michael Mann puts Brett Ratner to absolute shame as far as directors go. Granted, Manhunter is stylized and has quite a bit of Mann's 80's flair considering when it was made, but everything in the film still comes off more authentic. Even at the time of release, this one felt like a cash grab from the studio because they still had Hopkins for the role. I always sort of felt like Edward Norton was phoning in his performance for it as well. With Manhunter you actually feel like you get a peak into Will Graham's head, and by proxy, the tooth fairy's. Other must see films by Mann are The Insider, Collateral, Heat, Ali, and the 2006 movie version of Miami Vice.
