EARLY ACCESS: Hereditary (2018) | Movie Reaction

Who Puts Walnuts in Chocolate Cake? Both of us watch Hereditary (2018) for the first time. Here's our reaction.

EARLY ACCESS: Hereditary (2018) | Movie Reaction

The Mrs is a very superstitious girl when it comes to demonic movies.

Someone responded to my comment about Midsommar and said it was just the same film as The Film That Shall Not Be Named. I think it was deleted because it named names. But, to me, they're not at all the same. They may have similar settings and those settings have similar goals but Midsommar is about finding yourself and a new family. Its a personal journey during a breakup. I don't want to say too much about the other one but that's about solving a mystery, IIRC. That's like saying Star Wars and Star Trek (2009) arent different because they both involve space ships, a hero's journey, and the ultimate goal of finding and destroying a giant enemy space craft. But they are different, in my opinion. Much different. But that's just me.

lmao Love how she put the kibosh on Mr. Movies reading those spells out loud. 😆

The Witch is a must see

The VVitch, The Babadook, Sinister and It Follows are all terrifying films as well. The Mrs. may truly hate all of us for these though. Great reaction guys as usual.!!

Ari Aster has quickly skyrocketed as a new master of horror. You guys definitely need to see his follow up Midsommar. His movies just stay in your head long after the lights go back on

For more like this? The Witch. Midsommar. The Lighthouse. It Follows. I call this slow burn stuff NuHorror. It’s very divisive.

Aaron Johnson

The first time I saw this one, after the ending I also said to myself, “I just watched____.” that movie from the late 60s you mentioned.

Joseph Rodriguez

It’s an absolute crime that Toni Collette didn’t win a pile of awards that year. One of the most stunning acting performances of all time.

Aaron Johnson

I think this film is absolutely brilliant. If you watch Ari Aster's followup, Midsommar, don't expect it to be a horror/scary film in the vein of this one. I think people make the mistake of going in thinking that or being told that and being somewhat disappointed. Its more of a relationship drama and finding family and all the horrors those can entail. I think it's also brilliant and incredibly beautiful.

If you like slow burn horror then I really recommend The House of the Devil from 2009.

Apotheosis

Eww, yeah, about this movie...

Oh boy… this is gonna be a brutal one
